Another beautiful day! The plan was to walk down (and I mean down - steeply) to the harbor and spend the day in Lunenburg.

There are many interesting boats docked in the harbor, the most notable being the Bluenose II. This schooner has been to Gloucester to compete in the races many times. Beautiful wooden ship that we boarded and toured.

We had lunch right on the water - lobster roll and baked haddock. Then we sailed on the Eastern Star, a 48 foot wooden ketch - a two hour ride. My first trip sailing! It was wonderful. Again, met some very nice people - some from the U.S. - Massachusetts and Texas. Bill had a great time chatting with the captain and even piloting the boat.

The walk back up to the campground was longer and, of course, uphill. We took a circuitous route, walking streets laid out in a grid pattern, taking photos of the colorful and interesting buildings. Everywhere you go, there are homes painted bright red, purple and pink - a lovely background to a wonderful place. My favorite so far.
